[REVIEW] IOPE Ultimate Hydro Cream

Monday, September 21, 2015
Moisturizers are one of the key skincare products that we use, yet choosing the best one for our skin is a really hard task. Today I will telling you about the cream that I've been using this past year. It's the IOPE Ultimate Hydro Cream. Readers of my blog know that I usually use Korean road shop skincare because I think they're just as awesome as higher end brands. However, I've heard amazing things about IOPE's skincare ranges and decided to give it a try.

Recent Empties and Tossed Outs: Mini Reviews - Korean Cosmetics and Skincare

Wednesday, January 14, 2015
One of my favourite types of videos to watch and posts to read is recent empties. Although there is value in first impressions and mid-way reviews (which I do on this blog as well), there's something incredibly honest about an "empties" review. I have to admit they are quite difficult to post about because they take time and - I don't know about you but I always feel so satisfied throwing out an empty container.

Anyways, over the last two months, I've been able to collect up quite a lot of empties as well as a few items that I will be tossing out.

EMPTIES

SU:M37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick: I enjoyed this cleanser up to the very last bit. It's definitely worth a repurchase but as of the moment, I've found something I like better. You can read the full review here.

Tony Moly Floria Nutra-Energy Essence: I really loved the serum (reviewed here) in this line and but this essence was just mediocre in my standards. It's thicker than most essences out there and provides light moisture. I love that it's in a pump bottle but it didn't do anything special for me.

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX: Most of you who are familiar with Korean cosmetics have probably heard of this one. It's got a light, watery consistency with a very relaxing scent. My skin felt moisturized and bouncy in the morning after but that's all. The results I received from this product is pretty standard compared to the other cheaper sleeping masks I've tried.

Innisfree Green Tea Pure Sleeping Pack: This sleeping pack gives me glowy, moisturized, and bright skin in the morning. It comes as a white, almost translucent gel with white beads in it. The white beads break apart as you apply the mask on the skin. Two things I didn't like about it was that the scent was very strong and that it's slightly sticky. For the results that it gives me, I'm willing to put up with that.

Etude House Moistfull Super Collagen Ampoule Essence (Trial Size 25mL): Applied on its own will not give you much result. It's of a thin, gel-water consistency and feels like water when applied to the skin. However, it still adds slight moisture. I find that this product really prevents moisture from escaping my skin when I apply this over my daily moisturizer. (In the photo, the bottle is reused so I can bring my toner to the gym).

Etude House Moistfull Super Collagen Cream (Trial Size 10mL): I really liked the consistency of this cream. It's not too thin, nor too thick. It applies easily like a gel and absorbs right away and it has the same fresh scent as the Collagen Ampoule Essence. However, it doesn't provide as much moisture as I like. My skin still feels a little bit dry after the cream as sank in.

TOSSED OUTS
When products changes colour, gives off a bad smell, or starts separating - it's time to throw it out. Expired makeup can be really dangerous. It's better to protect your skin and your health than continue to use something that can harm you.

Aritaum World Glam Coating Tint in Seoul and London (reviewed here): I really loved these two tints. However, after neglecting them for a few months and coming back to them, I've discovered that the scent has changed. It smells really chemically off and not at all like how they were when I first purchased them.

Etude House  Color Lips-Fit (reviewed here): I've also neglected this tint for a few months now. When I went through my makeup, I notice that the liquid has separated from the solid. Thank goodness it's in a tinted clear plastic tube otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. It's instructed on the box that this expires 6 months after opening.

That's it for today! Thanks for reading.

Primera Watery Cream: Alpine Berry Alpine Strawberry Sprout Review

Sunday, February 23, 2014
Hi everyone, today I'm reviewing the highly hyped Primera Watery Cream Alpine Berry! Primera is a relatively new brand that launched under Amore Pacific. (Amore Pacific is a large company that owns many Korean businesses such as Etude House, Innisfree, Iope, Hera etc. ) The thing that makes Primera different from other brands is that it focuses on pureness and nature. This cream has been highly raved about in the Korean beauty community and it is also the first Primera product that I have tried.
Primera in Myeongdong

This is really how the inside of the store looks like! I feel very peaceful when I'm inside because it looks so clean like a very ideal fictional science lab that studies plants. Their store and their packaging reflect their image - that they are very simple, natural and very scientific. Sadly, at the moment there's not a lot of English information on this brand nor their products.

You can open the box to read some information on the inside.

Main Claim: A cream that provides rich hydration with alpine strawberry and aloe vera leaf extract whiel vitalizing the skin with papaya fruit extract containing vitamin C and keratinoid.

What makes this product so amazing:

Onto the actual product!

Packaging: The lid is a simple round, white plastic lid. The jar is a light blue glass. There is a thin cover between the lid and the jar. It's a bit heavy because of the glass. I like how the simple and pretty it looks.

Consistency: It has a gel- cream consistency. The gel is able to hold its shape a little when you take it out of the tube. It feels very slippery and spreads easily on the skin.

Scent: It has a very herbal scent. It really smells a bit like ginger to me.

Performance: I use this cream twice - three times a day - morning, aternoon (after nap), and night time after my toner and serum. It feels cool as I spread it over my face and sinks into my skin right away. Although it has a very slippery feel when you touch it -  almost like an oily cream, it doesn't feel oily at all. It feels very light and it hasn't clogged any pores. I've used this cream for about 4 weeks now  and I'm half way through my jar.

Although it claims to be a cream that provides rich hydration, I don't think it does. After switching to this cream from Scinic Snail Matrix Cream, I noticed that the areas around my nose felt a bit dry and flakey and the skin aroud my cheeks had a slight tight and dry feeling. It could be that it's winter here in Seoul and the floor heating system is making everything much much drier that any other season. However, I am still a bit disappointed in this cream because the Scinic Snail Matrix Cream and Nature Republic Watery Max Cream were able to perform during this time of the year but this cream could not. Not to mention, this cream is much more expensive than those two. The Primera Watery Cream retails for 35 000 Won - about $35 U.S.D.

I was also really excited about the natural ingredients and I had hoped that it would treat my skin well but I don't know how exactly how effective the ingredients are either since I don't have the full list of ingredients, just the main three which were listed on the box. I haven't really noticed any positive changes in my skin other than the nose area becoming a bit drier.

This cream wears fine under makeup. It doesn't make my bb cream roll up as some creams do. (*cough* the newer version of Nature Republic Watery Max Cream).

You can see that even though it is a gel-cream texture, it still holds its form pretty well.
It spreads easily across the skin like a gel, leaving no residue nor stickiness.
In the After picture, you can see that the skin looks more moisturized.

Price: 35 000 Won

Overall:
I'm not really impressed by this cream. I really like the texture but it just doesn't live up to the claims. I think there are many more affordable creams out there that can do  a much better job in taking care of my skin. Maybe I will try this again in the Summer but with its high price tag and lackluster performance, I'm not sure. If you live in a more humid area or planning to use this cream in the spring or autumn, it may hydrate your skin better than it has for mine.

Innisfree Canola Honey Pack & Cream Review

Friday, August 2, 2013

This was my first sleeping pack. I never realized the need for a sleeping pack until I tried a sample of this. After all the serum and moisturizer that goes into skin, I couldn't imagine adding another layer on top of that but I guess being in Korea, with the whole skincare craze, I've changed from being girl with one bottle of lotion to a girl who owns a drawer of skincare.

As far as I know, the Innisfree Canola Honey line only has three products, the honey mist, serum, and sleeping pack & cream. I've tried the serum in packs and it didn't impress me at all. The sleeping pack is by far my favorite, even among all the other sleeping packs that I now own.

Claims:
" Canola honey from Jeju island provides nourishing skin. A dual pack & cream that helps to create an elastic honey-kissed skin from deep within with its enriched hydrating and nourishing ingredients."

Directions:
" When used as a cream: following the usage order, apply an appropriate amount and softly smooth over your face and neck.
When used as a sleeping pack: apply twice the usual amount of cream and gently massage to allow formula to absorb.
When used as a wash-off pack: After cleansing, apply an appropriate amount and massage. Rinse off with lukewarm water after 5 minutes."

Usage order: Jelly mist-serum-pack&cream

Performance:
I only use this as a sleep pack because using it as a cream is far too heavy and sticky. I put this on after moisturizer before I go to sleep. When I wake up, I can still feel some of the sticky heaviness of it on my face. I rinse it off with lukewarm water and my complexion look so very bright, clear, glowy and soft.  See why I love this product? Very few products can give me this kind of result in such short time. Honey is suppose to be really good for your skin.

What I love about it:
     - makes my skin bright, glowy, soft, and clear
     - very moisturizing
     - smells like honey
     - washes off easily
     - fast results
     - 3 Free system
     - Green complex

What I don't like about it:
     - very thick
     - a bit sticky ( I get my hair stuck to my face easily with this on )
     - Expensive
     - definitely too shiney looking to be worn as a cream

Texture: I would say it is the same texture as real honey, a bit thick and kind of sticky. It spreads on easily but it's hard to get a thin layer of product on, which is another reason why I only use this a sleeping pack.

Price: around 23 000Won for 100ml. Sometimes, during Innisfree sales, it is 30% off.

Availability: I bought this in Korea. It will be more expensive if you buy it online.

Rating: A +

As I've mention before, this is my favorite sleeping pack. When I run out of it, I will definitely repurchase.
