Collective Korean Skincare and Cosmetics Haul: Dr. Jart, Skinfood, Kiss Me Heroine Make, Innisfree, Missha

Wednesday, March 12, 2014
As you all know, Spring is coming around and so many stores have launched their spring collections. They've done an amazing job as well. Among my favorite collections are Skinfood's Milky Rose Collection and Missha's Lotta and Wanna collection. Everytime I walked into those stores, I can't help but want to pick up something. Here are some of the things I've picked up over the past two weeks. Some products are repurchases.

Skinfood Rosy Essence Moist Make-up Fixer: When Skinfood's Spring collection first launched, I knew I had to get something. I really love the packaging. I needed a makeup fixer for the humidity of the summer anyways.

Skinfood Rose Essence Soft Cream Blusher in 02: I'm a big fan of this color because it's so natural and beautiful. It's a cream that once applied and spread becomes matte. It's incredibly easy to use and easy to spread out without losing it's color. You can also build up color.

Missha Time Revolution Aqua Youth Cream: I've ran out of my Primera Watery Cream so I thought this might be a good replacement. Boy was I wrong. I tried this twice before I gave up. Both times, my skin stung. I love the classy packaging though.

Innisfree Eco Science Eye Cream: This is the third time I've repurchased this. It's my favorite eye cream so far. I really like how it feels and the convenience of the pump dispenser.

Kiss Me Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara: This is a repurchase as well. It came with a box of three Smooth Gel Shadow Pencils. The packaging says Made in Korea but I'm pretty sure this is a Japanese brand.

Missha Glossy Lip Rouge in Wanna Coral: I've finally gotten over my fuschia lip phase and entered a pink-coral phase. This is the color chosen for their Wanna Coral Collection and it was the initial lipstick that sucked me into Missha. There are three in the Wanna collection: Wanna Orange, Wanna Pink, and Wanna Coral. This lipstick is really smooth and glossy. It doesn't last long at all though.

Missha Signature Glam Art Gloss in Lotta Coral: While I was browsing around Missha, I found out that they had two main collections: Signature Lotta and Wanna. This is the gloss chosen for the Lotta Coral collection. I debated in getting this or the color above but I ended up getting both. This is a beautiful pink with coral undertones. It's not sticky at all.

Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream: This product has been raved about everywhere. I've seen it on a few Korean beauty shows now and on tons of blogs. After I had that stinging reaction with the Missha cream, I decided to try this out instead. It's made in Korea but I've heard that you can buy this at Sephora as well.

Scinic Snail Matrix Cream Review

Monday, August 5, 2013
I found this cream at Olive Young after reading it on FrontRowBeauty's blog (I love her blog - frontrowbeauty.com ).  You may have heard that snail mucous is the current IT ingredient in Korean skin care at the moment. It is suppose to be full of nutrients.

I have never tried anything from Scinic before nor heard of it before reading Reika's blog, but I'm glad I tried it.

Performance:
It feels very light and moisturizing at the same time. My face always feel moisturized with this product on. However, it does take 5- 10 minutes to be fully absorbed into your skin and during those 5-10 minutes you will have a very dewy, wet, sheen on your face. It has not clogged my pores nor irritated my skin. I use it both morning and night after toner.

What I love about it:
     - Very affordable
     - Very moisturizing
     - Does not clog my pores nor irritate my skin
     - Makes my skin feel softer
     - Feels light enough for summer and effective enough for winter

What I don't love about it:
     - Jar packaging. Although it is a very pretty and elegant looking glass jar, it still bothers me when I get things under my nails. It doesn't feel very hygienic.
     - It doesn't absorb right away, it takes 5- 10 minutes to fully absorb.

Price: 10 000Won

Texture:
It's very thin but stretchy, kind of like school glue but not too sticky. It smells natural, I guess? Not smelly, nor floral, nor fruity, but kind of neutral, the way you would expect smell mucous to smell but lighter, almost no smell. It doesn't bother me at all. Even though I love fresh smelling things, added fragrance is not good for your skin.

Rating: A +
I love how I can use this product both for summer and winter. Since Scinic is not a very big brand in Korea, I always have a backup or two, just in case it gets discontinued at Olive Young.

Innisfree Eco Science Eye Cream Review

Monday, July 22, 2013
Hello everyone! Today I have an eye cream review for you!

This eye cream is relatively known in Korea and was recommended to me by the sales lady. It has won an award from Allure.
I used this eye cream for about 6 months now, almost everyday and night. It comes with 30ml of product for ₩28 000.

Claims:
"This skin care is a naturally derived wrinkle treatment that promotes skin vitality with marine plants from clean and pure ocean of Jeju Island. It contain marine plants that are rich in vitamin A and minerals to rejuvenate the ageing skin and to foster self-protective power of the skin."

Directions:
"After using the essence, apply an appropriate amount gently around the eyes with gentle pat."

Performance: I am not sure how effective it is to getting rid of wrinkles but it did keep my under eyes moisturized and supple. Keeping your under eyes supple is so important in wrinkle prevention so to some degree, this product is effective.

The thing I like the most about this eye cream is that it comes in a pump bottle, unlike most others that come in glass jars or sqeeze tubes. Glass jars are so unhygenic. I just absolutely hate getting eye cream under my nails. However because the bottle is not transparent, you have no way of knowing when its all used up. Also, by the time I finished using this up, the letters on the bottle have almost all rubbed off which doesnt really look good.

It spreads on smoothly, not too thick, not too watery.. just a light gel- cream and it gives a slight cooling effect that isnt every noticeable over time. It kept my undereyes moisturized even through the dry winter and air con dry summer.
One disadvantage with this cream is that it leaves a shine sheen. It isnt oily and not very noticeable but you know the product hasnt fully absorbed.

It doesnt cake under makeup. It allows my under eye concealer to go on smoothly but after maybe 6 hrs, make up might look a bit dry.
Another thing that really bothered me was the scent. It has the sams slightly herbal medical scent that the rest of the eco science line has and although its not unbearable, its just not what you call pleasent either. Some people might not mind but I like my scents fresh and floral.

What I love about it:
- It doesn't cake under makeup
- It's light yet hydrating. It moisturizes well throughout the day without causing milia or irritation
- Easily to use pump
- Refreshing feel after application (even though it lasts only for about a minute)
- Easy to spread

What I don't love about it:
- Expensive
- Doesn't absorb right away thus leaving a sheen
- Hard to know how much product you have left in the bottle

Texture: It has a gel-cream texture, kind of liquid-like and not thick at all. It spreads on easily but doesn't absorb completely right away.

Rating: A

I love this product for its hydrating abilities and easy to use pump. It's one of the only eye creams which I've tried that isn't too rich or too light for my sensitive skin but because of the price, I'll have to think about it before shelling out another 28 000 Won or get it when the sale comes.
